Part of the enjoyment of living in the old city are the wonderful mature trees and the healthy and lush urban canopy. NOCA keeps an eye on any opportunities to work to increase the number of trees in the neighbourhood. In April 2016 NOCA organized a tree planting party with the help of the Urban Forestry Department, City of Nanaimo. A number of new trees were planted on Machleary Street between Comox Road and Campbell Street. Residents of the old city had a great time planting the trees!
