Thanks to a successful lobbying effort, and a partnership with the City of Nanaimo, we have transformed the intersection at Machleary and Campbell Streets into a much safer place to cross the street. Many families use this intersection as their children walk to École Pauline Haarer.
Working with artist Sebastian Abboud, the City of Nanaimo Culture Coordinator, Active Transportation Project Specialist, and the city’s Transportartion Department, we created a beautiful mural which symbolizes the energy of the old city neighbourhood. The community painting day on July 5 was a huge success.
